Hi, I'm Chima 👋🏼

💫 Black Marketer Extraordinaire🌟

I’m a Senior Content Manager and Strategist who has created content for companies like Wix, Remitly, and Guru.

💪🏼 A loud advocate for BIPOC marketers 💪🏼

I advocate for BIPOC marketers because I understand that there aren’t enough Marketers of Color at the top and a lot of Black and Brown folks in the industry are exploited for gain while they remain stuck in poverty.

I founded The Freelance Coalition for Developing Countries (FCDC) because I was tired of the status quo.

At the FCDC, my team and I enlist the help of generous donors like you who donate time, resources, and cash to ensure that our members escape a system that keeps them stuck in the rat race

❤️‍🩹 Creator of the FCDC Training Cohort & Paid Internship Program 🌍

I created the FCDC Training Cohort and Paid Internship Program when I realized that training members of the FCDC wasn’t enough.

They also needed to have valuable experience if they were going to escape the terrible cycle of poverty.

Introducing The FCDC Training Cohort and Paid Internship Program

The 3-month program that makes it easy for you to hire a self-starting team member who brilliantly handles projects at an affordable rate. It also helps us break the barriers that keep BIPOC marketers overworked and underpaid.

You gain an invaluable employee when you hire an intern from the Cohorts.

Here’s how I know…

Thanks to the FCDC Training Cohort and Internship Program, Sodiq no longer has to choose between food for his family and marketing tools.

5/5

”My location and the color of my skin put me at a disadvantage for seven years."

I used to earn $120 a month working round the clock. I wrote 1500 words for $5 because I thought this was the best offer.

I never took my kids to nice restaurants because I couldn’t afford anything above the bare essentials.

Thankfully, I joined the coalition, and my life changed. My monthly revenue has jumped fourfold, and I’m on course to 10x it before the end of Q2.

I can give my family the life I’ve always wanted without choosing between food or marketing tools.

She has created ads for Hootsuite and AdEspresso, served as a panelist at Brighton SEO, appeared on the Copywriter Club’s Podcast, and written articles for publications like Copyhackers.

Erika Varangouli led the Content Marketing Cohort.

She was responsible for building meaningful connections between SEMRush and the SEO community as Head of SEO Branding at SEMRush.

She regularly hosts educational webinars and is now the Head of Branded Content at Riverside.fm.

Tara Struyk trained the Content Writing Cohort.

She is the Vice President of Content at Janalta and co-founder of Kinkly.

Her niche expertise is in finance, and she has written content for online publications such as Forbes, Business Insider, Investopedia, Techopedia, and Glamour Magazine.

The intern you’ll get was trained with a comprehensive curriculum that combines current trends.

The Copywriting Cohort Curriculum led by Sarah Sal

Students in the Copywriting Cohort learned how to write engaging copy for:

5/5

“I learned to write persuasive, engaging, and compelling copy.”

Before joining the copywriting cohort, I didn’t know if the copy I wrote was engaging with the customers or if it would convert.

During this copywriting program, Sarah taught me how to be specific with the copy, write copy that evokes emotion, use analogies, and use testimonials and reviews to make the copy more persuasive, engaging, and compelling.

Saba Sohail, Copywriting Cohort Trainee (Pakistan)

The Content Writing Cohort Curriculum led by Tara Struyk

Students in the Content Writing Cohort can competently write content in any niche because they learned:

5/5

“ I learned how to write high-quality content that outranked the competition.”

When I joined the Cohort, I was a generalist who wrote both short—and long-form content. I saw the opportunity in SEO Content Writing, but I lacked the right tools and knowledge.

The cohort helped me learn to write high-quality content that outranked the competition using keyword research, link-building strategy, and content gap analysis.

Nina Camara, Content Writing Trainee (United Kingdom)

The Content Marketing Cohort Curriculum led by Erika Varangouli

Trainees in the Content Marketing Cohort led by Erika Varangouli became better content strategists by covering the following:

5/5

“I learned how to develop a content marketing strategy.”

Before the Cohort, I couldn’t develop a content marketing strategy. At the Cohort, I learned how to do this using competitor analysis, audience research, content audit, and topic research.

How to hire an intern from the FCDC Training Cohort

Join agency owners who pay BIPOC talent a fair wage

I’m asking you to pay the interns a living wage of $1,500 (USD) per month because my team and I believe that pay should not depend on location but on talent.

Ready to work with top talent and invest in positive change?

You’ll be hiring an intern who:

“A fantastic way to meet your business bottom line.”

We had a project where a client was like “Hey, something is messed up. Our traffic is going down. What is going on?”

Usually, when we have queries like this, they are from new clients. But in this case, it was an existing client.

And it was fun working with someone new who was smart and cared. I got her to take the first look and put a case together that identified the cause of the problem.

Seeing her put in the effort and go through the stages of feedback was really cool. There is just a certain baseline of things that I can expect from an intern that has gone through the Cohort, who understands the program, and showed up consistently.

This is a fantastic way to get somebody who already has a baseline of knowledge, especially for a business that works with interns.

They have already shown enthusiasm, work ethic, care, and passion. It’s also a fantastic way to meet your business bottom line if that is what you care about.

“Highly recommend supporting this worthwhile program.”

The FCDC internship program is a great way to gain exposure to diversity and bring on a specialized skill set.

Quality SEO talent is difficult to find, and FCDC’s training by Aleyda Solis is something that you can’t replicate. I highly recommend supporting this worthwhile program.

Have Questions?

Here's What Other Agency Founders Are Asking

The FCDC internship program lasts for three months.

The monthly salary is non-negotiable because it helps the intern earn a livable wage while fulfilling their duties.

Your intern will perform tasks suited to their specialty: copywriting, content writing, or content marketing.

Depending on the Cohort you hire from:

  • Your copywriting intern will have strong persuasive writing skills, which will be useful in creating copy for social media, ad and email campaigns, websites, sales, and landing pages.
  • Your content writing intern will create content briefs, perform audience and keyword research, internal linking, on-page and off-page SEO. They can also source expert contributors to write authoritative content.
  • Your content marketing intern will conduct audience and topic research, market and competitor analysis, and content audits, create a content strategy, and measure the results of a content marketing campaign.

Absolutely. Your intern will adapt to your time zone and work the required hours.

You can pay your intern via a direct bank transfer or use payment services like Remitly, PayPal, Payoneer, and Western Union, depending on which is most convenient for you.

My team and I adopt a hands-free approach because we trust your expertise and believe you have your intern’s best interest at heart.

I am firmly against interns doing English proficiency or writing tests.

They degrade members of the Cohort who grew up speaking the English Language and learning English-As-A-Second-Language through grade and high school.

Each intern we pair with agencies this season is a top performer in their respective cohorts vetted by the FCDC team and cohort teachers.

Yes!

You could hire as many interns as you need from one or all cohorts.

Founders like Jon Robinson hired up to 3 interns from The Training Cohort because of how beneficial the experience was for him.

You may donate monthly to The FCDC to help us achieve our mission of diversifying the industry and ending the injustice suffered by BIPOC marketers living in developing countries.

No!

The Cohort training is free; you pay their salaries directly to their accounts.

You decide whether to retain your intern or end the internship at the end of the program.

You hire ready-made talent that you can trust with projects immediately. And you become instrumental in putting a stop to the cruelty, injustice, and inequality suffered by Black and Brown marketers living in African, Asian, and South American countries.
